Homemade Garlic-Infused Croutons
Golden, crunchy, and full of garlic flavor, these easy homemade croutons are a delicious finishing touch for soups and salads. They're a great way to use stale homemade bread, or try a French bread loaf from your local grocery store bakery—one of my favorites!

Makes about 3–4 cupsPrep: about 10 minutesBake: about 10 minutes
Ingredients
- 3–4 cups cubed bread (stale homemade bread or bakery French bread)
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, smashed
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the bread. Preheat oven to 425°F. Cube the bread into bite-sized pieces and place in a large mixing bowl.
- Infuse the oil. Add olive oil and the three smashed garlic cloves to a small saucepan. Heat over medium-high heat until the garlic is crispy but not burnt. You're infusing the oil with garlic flavor, so watch carefully.
- Remove the garlic. Carefully lift the garlic cloves out of the oil and discard them.
- Coat the bread. Pour the garlic-infused oil over the bread cubes and toss to coat evenly. Sprinkle lightly with salt.
- Bake. Spread the cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for about 10 minutes, watching closely and stirring or turning them if needed, until golden and crispy.
- Cool and serve. Remove from the oven and allow to cool. Enjoy on soups or salads.
